Living on the Edge

Artisanal crafters are continually finding creative ways to put life back into our old wood.  Curating wooden pieces of furniture and/or artwork always leaves a feeling of purpose in any setting.  Whether it is the smoothness or roughness at the touch or the richness of freshly stained wood, we are inspired to create with the most versatile elements of design.

Overtime, Straight Designs has accumulated a significant amount of timber(lumber)  and we are ecstatic to use them in our current designs. Designers transform a settled space by simply adding natural wood elements that create warmth and raw texture.  From live edge walnut tables and benches to olive wood figurines, we are sculpting endless possibilities for an edgy look and feel with organic shapes.

Creating a Courtyard Oasis

Creating a Courtyard Oasis

By creating peaceful spaces that are inspired by the tranquility of nature, designers counteract the chaos of daily life for their clients.  For people craving peace and refuge from the hectic world, a spa-like environment where their energy can be supported and nurtured may be necessary.  To transform a space into a haven, designers play with contemporary water features, added greenery, soothing color palettes, and their use of natural lighting- all of which impact the emotional, psychological, and physical state of people.  Surfaces remain clear of objects for the most part, leaving room for guests to feel inspired and recharged.

A secluded courtyard offered Straight Designs the perfect opportunity to create a moment that reflected serenity.  The Courtyard within the Roosevelt Lofts was brought to life by Solomon Mansoor and it has remained one of his favorite designs.  By adding natural elements to the cold industrial space in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles, Mansoor instantly created a connection to the outdoors.  Residents are drawn to the space by the custom graphic, a waterfall that leads down into a bay of rocks with a fountain.  The inclusion of water, greenery, wood, and rocks assist in defining the peaceful retreat for city residents who are looking to escape the busyness of urban life.  Whether residents are sitting in this space reading a book or just walking by, the courtyard design temporarily transports them to a fresh and calming mountain-scape.

Custom Wall Graphics

If you are interested in adding color, boldness, or pattern to an area, a wall graphic is a creative way to go. A wall graphic is a great alternative to adding multiple pieces of art to a single wall, especially if there is a large surface area. Made of canvas artex, graphics can stretch anywhere from 20 feet wide to 15 feet tall.

Straight Designs designers are adding wall graphics to most current properties, giving them a fun one-of-a-kind look:

Below is a wall graphic that created and installed in the theater room in Seattle, Washington.  Seattle has some committed Seahawks fans!

Faux Fur? Faux Sure!

Faux Fur? Faux Sure!

Looking to add some warmth to your home this season? Faux fur may be the material that takes your space from cold to cozy.

Making its way from fashion runways to our homes, faux fur has recently seen major advancements to its fibers and finishes that give us an improved look and feel. Because of the advanced quality, faux fur has become a cost-effective and socially conscious option for throw blankets, pillows, rugs, and even wall coverings.

The luxe and soft material has become a Straight Designs staple, completing our look in model units across the country. When staging a model unit, we are looking to appeal to the senses of the target renter, emotionally connecting them to their future home. The added warmth and comfort provided by faux fur juxtaposed with our clean and modern furniture creates an irresistible and unique space for potential renters to picture themselves enjoying.

Check out these Straight Designs model units that have been transformed by faux fur:

Faux fur adds an element of contrast to this modern living room. The texture of the brown hide against the sleek, white, leather sofa makes the space feel welcoming and inviting.

A faux fur blanket thrown across the top of a bed adds elegance and a timeless appeal. The luxe fur softens the straight lines of the artwork and headboard, creating a balanced focal point.

If you are looking for a more permanent statement piece, faux fur ottomans are a great option. The neutral tones of these ottomans add an element of class, while the long-haired fur adds a punch of fun.
